The air travel industry has been keenly observed through the lens of mobile app performance. Sensor Tower's data provides a glimpse into the iOS app trends for the United States' top air travel applications in the first quarter of 2021.
American Airlines showed a consistent increase in downloads, starting the quarter with 57K and ending with 84K. The weekly active users also grew from 332K to 398K in the same period.
United Airlines experienced a similar upward trend, with downloads rising from 63K to 73K. Weekly active users for United Airlines climbed from 271K in the last week of December to approximately 286K by the end of March.
Southwest Airlines saw its downloads begin at 52K and peak at 77K in mid-March, before slightly declining to 74K. Active users also increased, starting at 352K and reaching a high of 391K before closing the quarter at 380K.
Fly Delta downloads were at 44K at the beginning of the quarter and grew to nearly 59K by the end. The app's active users increased from 256K to 296K during Q1.
Lastly, Spirit Airlines began the quarter with 41K downloads, saw a peak at 63K, and ended slightly lower at 56K. Weekly active users showed growth from 92K to 131K.
